The 38-year-old Urbina was released from prison Dec. 23, after serving 7 1/2 years in prison for attempted murder during a dispute over a gun in 2005.

Urbina was accused of attacking multiple men on his property in November 2005, allegedly trying to set them on fire and going after at least one with a machete. He was convicted in March 2007 and given a 14-year sentence.

Tue, 08 Nov 2005 08:15:53 -0800 The Associated Press reports free agent RP Ugueth Urbina was arrested and charged with attempted murder in his native Venezuela. Urbina and a group of men allegedly attacked several of his employees at his family home with machetes and attempted to set them on fire. Urbina claims he was asleep at the time and had nothing to do with it. Five workers were injured, and one of them suffered burns on the back of his right arm. One of the five has accused Urbina as being one of them who threatened them with machetes and poured gasoline on them attempting to set them on fire.
