Dick Kaegel, of Royals.MLB.com, reports Kansas City Royals RP Scott Sullivan (back) has been recommended by a specialist to undergo surgery on his ailing back. While Sullivan has not decided whether to opt for the surgery or not, he has stated he is not considering retiring at this time.

Kansas City Royals RP Scott Sullivan (back) returned to Kansas City this week, but has apparently suffered a setback in his recovery from a back strain, which has kept him sidelined all season, according to Matt LaWell of Royals.MLB.com. "He had a little bit of a setback," said MAN Buddy Bell. "I think he's going to see Dr. Watkins, the back surgeon out of Los Angeles, on Wednesday."

Kansas City Royals P Scott Sullivan (back) got his first game action of the year Thursday, June 23, on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha, according to Dick Kaegel of Royals.MLB.com. He pitched one perfect inning, striking out one batter. Sullivan is also expected to pitch Sunday, June 26.
