The Palm Beach Post's Zach Stewart reports Florida Marlins RP Tim Spooneybarger (elbow), who last pitched for the Marlins in 2003, left the mound at Roger Dean Stadium grimacing after throwing 21 pitches in a rehabilitation start July 20. After a brief mound conversation, he left the field in obvious pain and returned to the clubhouse. Team officials would not comment on the injury.

Spooneybarger underwent Tommy John surgery in September 2003.

He hadn't pitched since mid-June and went to Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham for an exploratory procedure, when a torn ligament was revealed and ligament replacement surgery was performed.

Spooneybarger, who has already undergone one MRI in Birmingham, did not rule out a second one.
