The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Astros RP Scott Sauerbeck, who was reassigned to minor-league camp on March 19, can request his release by March 27 because he was a non-roster player, but manager Phil Garner hopes Sauerbeck reconsiders. "I like his arm, and I like what I saw," said Garner. "Given a little more time, I might view him a little different than I do now."

The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Astros SP Brian Moehler, who's battling for the No. 5 spot in the pitching rotation, will start March 6 against the New York Mets. SP Woody Williams was supposed to start but was removed to pitch in a minor-league game. Moehler will be followed by P Dave Borkowski, P Paul Estrada, P Scott Sauerbeck and P Ezequiel Astacio.
