Tampa Bay Rays RP Fernando Rodney said he will be given the chance to compete with RP Kyle Farnsworth for the team's closer job. However, it seems unlikely that Rodney will win the job over Farnsworth.

Updating an earlier report, Tampa Bay Rays RP Fernando Rodney's deal pays him $1.75 million in 2012, and he has a $2.5 million option for 2013 with a $250,000 buyout.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia didn't sound encouraged that the team would make a high-end trade before the deadline Sunday, July 31. Scioscia stated: "Arte Moreno has spent enough money. "We need to get it in-house. It's realistic. It's not a wing and a prayer. I think we'll get better, and I've already seen signs of it." The return of RP Fernando Rodney was almost equal to a key acquisition, and his stuff looked impressive in his first outing back from the DL over the weekend. There have been reports connecting the Angels to San Diego Padres RP Heath Bell, but the asking price is likely too high for them.
