The Baltimore Orioles worked out two former players to see if they have anything left to offer the team. RP Arthur Rhodes worked out for the team at Camden Yards, while the team checked out INF/OF Fernando Tatis in the Dominican Republic. At this point, no final decision has been made on either player.

Free-agent RP Arthur Rhodes (Cardinals) is telling people that he wants to pitch in the majors again, and he's hoping to sign a minor league deal in hopes of winning a roster spot in spring training.

St. Louis Cardinals RP Marc Rzepczynski credited RP Octavio Dotel (now with the Detroit Tigers) with helping him with his confidence down the stretch last season. "Having Dotel there meant a lot to me," Rzepczynski said. "He just said, 'Go out there and trust your stuff.' I knew that I would have a (disappointing) game here and there. There was a game in the playoffs (against Philadelphia) where I gave up three singles. But I didn't let it bother me. I went out the next day with a fresh outlook." He has a lot more confidence heading into the new season. RP Arthur Rhodes was also credited with helping the youngster.

The St. Louis Cardinals offered free-agent 1B Albert Pujols (Cardinals) salary arbitration, but he is most likely to decline the offer. The team also offered arbitration to free-agent SP Edwin Jackson (Cardinals), but didn't do the same for RP Octavio Dotel, SS Rafael Furcal and RP Arthur Rhodes.
