Updating an earlier story, the Associated Press reports Baltimore Orioles RP Steve Reed got a one-year, $1.05 million contract. Reed gets a $900,000 salary this year, and the deal includes a $1.25 million mutual option for 2006 with a $150,000. He also can earn $250,000 in performance bonuses.

The Associated Press reports Colorado Rockies RP Steve Reed was suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount for his altercation with umpire Bruce Dreckman during a game Sunday, June 6. Reed bumped Dreckman and was ejected, but also threw his glove in Dreckman's direction as he left the field.

Janie McCauley, of the Associated Press, reports Colorado Rockies RP Steve Reed was ejected from a game against the San Francisco Giants Sunday, June 6, after he vehemently argued a hit batsman call. Reed hit Giants C A.J. Pierzynski on the elbow with a pitch, and Reed argued that the batter made no attempt to get out of the way. While arguing the call, Reed bumped plate umpire Bruce Dreckman and was ejected. Reed's teammates had to help restrain him from going after Dreckman.

Reed went 5-3 with a 3.27 ERA in 67 appearances this season. He is the team's career leader in ERA (3.62) and appearances (396). Reed will receive a $300,000 buyout, of which $200,000 will be deferred without interest.
