Former Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Troy Percival said Tuesday, April 16, no one from the organization has contract him directly about a job with the team. There has been speculation the organization might replace pitching coach Mike Butcher with Percival.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have free-agent CL Troy Percival (Rays) in camp as a guest instructor, according to The Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna. Percival has told people he is only coaching and is retired.

Agent Paul Cohen said Sunday, Aug. 9, no decision has been made, but that Percival has been having severe back problems and will see a specialist this week with the possibility of needing a fusion.

The Bradenton Journal's Roger Mooney reports Tampa Bay Rays CL Troy Percival has returned to the closer role. Percival watched video of how he pitched in Baltimore and realized he was using his changeup far more than he normally does and that he was pitching away from lefties. With left-handers batting .476 against Percival, Rays manager Joe Maddon kept Percival away from lefties. Percival struck out a lefty in his outing Sunday, May 17.
