Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers LB Na'il Diggs (knee) does not believe his injury is severe and was told his ACL is intact. Diggs was injured during the team's preseason game Thursday, Aug. 24. Head coach John Fox did not have the details on the extent of the injury and Diggs was replaced by LB Keith Adams Thursday. The team could use LB Chris Draft or LB Adam Seward if Diggs is out for a long time.

Among those competing for the job include LBs Keith Adams and LB Na'il Diggs, as well as last year's sixth-round draft pick LB Adam Seward and this year's third-round selection LB James Anderson. As of right now, it appears Adams and Diggs have the inside track into winning that starting job, but things could certainly change.

Jason La Canfora, of the Washington Post, reports the Washington Redskins are still pursuing free agent LB Keith Adams (Eagles), according to agent Jordan Woy. The agent said five teams are in the mix. According to sources, Adams has been seeking a signing bonus exceeding what Washington is offering. The Redskins have been looking to sign experienced players for close to the veteran minimum. Woy said that Adams expects to make a decision on his new team in the next day or two.

ESPN.com reports nine players were fined for their roles in a fight before Monday night's game, Sept. 12, between the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons. Eagles' LB Jeremiah Trotter received a $5,000 fine. Along with Trotter, three Eagles were fined $2,500 for entering a fight area: LBs Keith Adams, Jason Short and Mike Labinjo.

Shannon Ryan, of the Philadelphia Enquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles LB Mark Simoneau is currently battling LB Keith Adams for the starting weakside linebacker position this year, but all indications point to Adams as the favorite to land the No. 1 role. However, Simoneau is determined to make it a difficult decision for the coaching staff despite his unfamiliarity with the position. "I would like to be the guy playing every day on defense," Simoneau said. "The situation [at linebacker now] didn't work like that. I'm going to be a professional about it. I'm just looking to help out on the field any way that I can." Simoneau will likely begin the season on special teams.

Kevin Noonan, of the News Journal, reports there is expected to be quite a battle in training camp between LB Keith Adams and LB Mark Simoneau to see who starts at weakside linebacker for the team. Simoneau is still recovering from offseason knee surgery. Currently Adams is listed No. 1 on the depth chart and even Simoneau acknowledges that Adams deserves that title. Simoneau isn't conceding the position to Adams just yet. Simoneau said his battle isn't going to be with Adams as much as with himself. "The competition is that you're trying to be the best you can be," he said. "In the end, you're not going to make the decision, you're just playing. You're out to sway the coaches' decision, and after that, you just play where they put you."
