Sports Network reports RP Jesse Orosco, who had signed a minor league deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks in November, announced his retirement from MLB. "Jesse has had one of the great careers in our game and we respect his decision of ending it before officially taking the field as a member of the Diamondbacks," said Arizona general manager Joe Garagiola Jr. The 46-year-old pitcher holds the major league record with 1,248 relief appearances and 1,252 overall appearances.

The Associated Press reports free-agent P Jesse Orosco, at 46 the oldest player in the major leagues, agreed Monday to a minor league contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Orosco, who has been invited to spring training, would get an $800,000 salary if he is added to the major league roster and would have the chance to earn an additional $200,000 in performance bonuses.
