The Associated Press reports that the New York Yankees held a ceremony Saturday, Nov. 8, which involved the transfer of dirt from home plate and the pitcher's mound, along with home plate itself and the pitcher's rubber, from the old Yankee Stadium to their new home across the street. Former Yankees David Cone, Paul O'Neill, Jeff Nelson and Scott Brosius were on hand to assist construction workers and several dozen Bronx High School students in moving the items.

The Chicago Tribune's Dave van Dyck reports Chicago White Sox RP Jeff Nelson (elbow) began feeling numbness in his right hand and was put on the disabled list. The injury is being listed as ulnar neuritis, which is an irritation of the nerve in his elbow.

The Associated Press reports Chicago White Sox RP Jeff Nelson made his first appearance with the team after getting called up from Triple-A Charlotte before the game. Nelson hadn't pitched in the majors this season since being released by St. Louis at the end of spring training. He entered with two outs in the seventh and walked Oakland Athletics DH Frank Thomas on six pitches before getting a flyout to end the inning.

Scott Merkin, of WhiteSox.MLB.com, reports Chicago White Sox general manager Ken Williams said P Jeff Nelson could be called up as soon as Tuesday, May 23. Nelson would provide relief to the struggling White Sox bullpen. Nelson has recorded 5 1/3 scoreless innings since signing a minor league deal with the White Sox Tuesday, May 2.
