The veteran right-hander had been 1-1 with a 12.34 ERA in 16 appearances this season. "They gave me a chance and I didn't do my job," said Mesa. "I'll see what is out there and if there's nothing, I'll go home and relax. If this is it, I'm happy with [my career]." Mesa had appeared in 982 games over his career and ranks 13th on the career save list with 320 saves.
