According to ABC Sports, St. Louis Rams LB Robert Thomas (groin) suffered a sprained left groin during Monday's, Dec. 8, game against the Cleveland Browns. His return is questionable.

Cowboys | Campo Not Only One On Hot Seat

The Star Telegram reports there are people other than Dallas Cowboys head coach Dave Campo on the hot seat. Some players could be in their final season with the Cowboys as a result of salary issues: FB Robert Thomas ($1 million), TE Tony McGee ($755,000), WR Raghib Ismail ($4 million), TE Jeff Robinson ($1.1 million) and CB Dwayne Goodrich ($437,000). The players aren't necessarily going to be cut, but could all be asked to restructure their contracts if they want to stay in Dallas. The Cowboys are approximately $5 million under the salary cap for 2003.

Associated Press reports the Dallas Cowboys are moving LB Scott Zimmerman to offense to play fullback. If he can handle the transition, he'll serve as the backup to FB Robert Thomas, who is also a former linebacker.

Dallas Cowboys.com reports four players were held out of practice Wednesday for precautionary reasons. All four spent most of practice riding the stationary bike. Backup OT Char-ron Dorsey and starting RB Robert Thomas both have slight calf muscle strains, while CBs Pete Hunter and Duane Hawthorne have hamstring strains.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Dave Campo said he believes rookie FB Jamar Martin will compete with FB Robert Thomas for the starting FB position, according to DallasCowboys.com. Campo feels Martin, who was absent from the team's quarterback school because he has not yet graduated from Ohio State, needs to improve on his pass-catching skills.

Cowboys | Got Their Man Anyway

The Dallas Morning News reports the Dallas Cowboys attempted to trade up in Sunday's fourth-round to draft Ohio State FB Jamar Martin. The asking price, a third-round pick in next year's draft, was too high for the Cowboys so they stayed where they were. The move worked out well as they were able to draft Martin with their own fourth-round selection. Martin will compete with incumbent FB Robert Thomas as the lead blocker for RB Emmitt Smith. "He's a terrific, physical lead blocker," owner/GM Jerry Jones said Sunday about Martin.
