The New York Mets are expected to search for a closer outside the organization this winter after RPs Jason Isringhausen, Bobby Parnell, Pedro Beato and Manny Acosta proved ineffective. However, the team's expenses will be limited, so signing Milwaukee Brewers RP Francisco Rodriguez will even be a stretch, even if he takes a pay cut.

New York Mets RP Jason Isringhausen (back) is still feeling some numbness in his right leg as a result of back pain from a herniated disc. He hopes to throw a bullpen session this week and doesn't think he will need offseason surgery. Isringhausen is still holding out hope of returning this year.
