ESPN.com reports Arizona Diamondbacks RP Buddy Groom ripped New York Yankees manager Joe Torre after he was traded to Arizona. "I wouldn't encourage anybody else to come here thinking you are going to get an opportunity because unless you are one of Joe's boys you are not going to get much of a shot; unless you are one of his three guys," Groom said. "The same thing happened to me in Baltimore [last year]. I went 15 days [without pitching] and [Torre] is where [Oriole manager Lee] Mazzilli learned it."

The Washington Post's Dave Sheinin reports the Baltimore Orioles have no intention of disciplining or firing manager Mike Hargrove despite his gaffe during Tuesday's 8-7, 10-inning loss to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Hargrove went out to the mound to check on his pitcher, momentarily forgetting his pitching coach had already been out there, and he had to replace his pitcher with Buddy Groom, who gave up the game-winning hit.
