The Tampa Bay Rays placed 3B Evan Longoria (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, May 1. INF Will Rhymes was recalled from the minors and RP Kyle Farnsworth (elbow) was moved to the 60-day disabled list, meaning he can't return until June 5.

The Tampa Bay Rays placed RP Kyle Farnsworth (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, April 5, with a right elbow strain. RP Josh Lueke was called up from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. Manager Joe Maddon will use RPs Joel Peralta, Fernando Rodney and J.P. Howell in the ninth based on matchups.

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays RP Kyle Farnsworth (elbow) said his elbow problem is similar to the issue he experienced last year, and he's only feeling pain occasionally when finishing his pitches. Farnsworth said the problem is with his flexor pronator and not the ligament.

Tampa Bay Rays RP Kyle Farnsworth (elbow) is expected to land on the disabled list to begin the season. RP Josh Lueke is the favorite to be recalled to join the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Farnsie owners should immediately look to add Joel Peralta in all formats, as he filled in as the closer when Farnsworth dealt with injury last season. Fernando Rodney and J.P. Howell are other candidates to garner saves, but they should be reserved for AL rosters at this time.
