Tampa Bay Rays RP Kyle Farnsworth (arm) was clocked at 92 mph during his first exhibition appearance Friday, March 8, against the Philadelphia Phillies. He threw a perfect inning and did not feel any pain. Farnsworth, who is expected to serve as a middle reliever this year, is expected to make seven or eight appearances during the exhibition season.

Tampa Bay Rays RP Kyle Farnsworth (arm) threw on the side Thursday, Feb. 21, after he was held out of live batting practice the day before due to soreness in his right arm. Farnsworth said the arm wasn't an issue and that he was being held back as a means of pacing him over the course of this spring training that is extended because of the World Baseball Classic.

The Tampa Bay Rays designated INFs Reid Brignac and Elliot Johnson for assignment Tuesday, Feb. 5, to make room on the roster for RP Kyle Farnsworth and 2B Kelly Johnson. One more roster spot must be cleared when OF Luke Scott's contract is finalized. Both players are expected to clear waivers.
