Both men had been previously charged with possession of crack cocaine with an intent to distribute.

Zellner and his brother Mannon Lee Zellner Jr. were arrested Thursday, according to Sheriff John Bittick. His brother has remained in jail on previous drug convictions.

The medical staff was pleased with his progress after receiving the first epidural shot last week. "We'll re-evaluate him on Monday and see where he's at," said trainer Jim Mauer. After this week's evaluations, Maurer said immediate surgery is not out of the question. Peppi Zellner is expected to start the next game if Ekuban can't go. He's expected to split time with rookie Demetric Evans, whom the Cowboys are excited about, especially against the run.

The Dallas News reports the Dallas Cowboys will use Peppi Zellner and rookie free agent Demetric Evans to replace DB Ebenezer Ekuban. As reported earlier, Ekuban will miss 3-4 weeks and possibly longer if he has surgery on his back. Coach Dave Campo said the team will continue to survey the waiver wire for help at that position. There had been talks that veteran Ben Williams, who was released just before the start of the season, could return, but one Cowboys official said that move is unlikely for now. Another possibility could be to move seventh-round pick Colston Weatherington from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

According to the Dallas Morning News, a handful of players on the "bubble" helped themselves tremendously in the Dallas Cowboys second straight pre-season victory Thursday night. DE Peppi Zellner, returning from a knee injury, had two sacks, one that caused a fumble, and another tackle behind the line of scrimmage. Undrafted free agent CB Jason Bell may have locked up a roster spot with his special teams play. He blocked a punt Thursday that resulted in a touchdown by Cowboys S Earl Riley. RB Tony Taylor looked good. WR Reggie Swinton continued to make plays on special teams. Undrafted free agent LB Jamal Brooks continues to show the instincts to play all of the linebacker positions.

RB Emmitt Smith will not play against the Raiders, mainly because of the unknown field conditions at Azteca Stadium. Troy Hambrick will replace Smith as the starting RB. Campo also said he'll wait until closer to game time to decide how much action WRs Joey Galloway and Raghib Ismail, along with OT Flozell Adams will see.
