The Atlanta Braves have signed RP Rheal Cormier (Reds) to a minor league contract, according to Mark Bowman of Atlanta.Braves.MLB.com. Cormier will join Triple-A Richmond's bullpen beginning Monday, May 14.

John Fay, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Reds RP Rheal Cormier could be traded to make room for Rule V selection P Jared Burton. If Burton does not stay on the Reds' 25-man roster all year, then Burton must be optioned back to the Oakland Athletics for $25,000.

The Dayton Daily News reports Cincinnati Reds RP Rheal Cormier (knee) was a workout casualty March 5 during infield practice when he was hit in the left knee by a ball thrown by P Brian Shackelford. Cormier left the field to wrap his knee in ice, but isn't expected to miss any time, "Although I'll have a nice blue bruise for a while," Cormier said.

Mark Sheldon, of Reds.MLB.com, reports Cincinnati Reds P David Weathers is competing to be the team's starting closer with five others, according to Reds manager Jerry Narron. The other pitchers in consideration are Todd Coffey, Bill Bray, Mike Stanton, Rheal Cormier and non-roster addition Kerry Ligtenberg.
