Texas Rangers minor league P Jason Boyd, now pitching for Double-A Bakersfield, has been activated from the disabled list, according to Jesse Sanchez of Rangers.MLB.com.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Pittsburgh Pirates P Jason Boyd (hand) has been suspended for 30 days without pay. Boyd, who started the year on the major-league roster, punched the mound and broke his hand after giving up a winning homer Sunday, May 30. He is out six to eight weeks. General manager Dave Littlefield said Boyd violated his contract with "inappropriate actions."

Ed Eagle, of Pirates.MLB.com, reports Pittsburgh Pirates RP Jason Boyd, who was designated for assignment on Tuesday, May 18, cleared waivers Thursday, May 20. Boyd has 24 hours to decide whether he wants to accept an assignment to the Pirates' Triple-A affiliate, Nashville, or declare himself a free agent.

The Associated Press is reporting Cincinnati Reds 3B Ryan Freel (face) was struck on the left side of his face by a fastball from Pittsburgh Pirates P Jason Boyd. Freel dropped to the ground and lay motionless for a minute or so. He got up after several minutes and was replaced by pinch-runner Javier Valentin. Freel's status after the game was unknown.

The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Pirates RP Jason Boyd was sentenced Monday, Feb. 2, to court supervision and ordered to seek anger management counseling for hitting a man outside a bar in November. Boyd, 30, was initially charged with felony aggravated battery for the Nov. 16 fight in Atlon, Ill., but prosecutors reduced that charge Monday to misdemeanor battery. Boyd was sentenced to one year of court supervision and also fined him $200.

The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Pirates RP Jason Boyd was arrested and charged with hitting a man in the face with a beer bottle Tuesday, Nov. 18. He was charged with felony aggravated battery, authorities said. He posted $1,500 bond Tuesday, said Stephanee Smith, spokeswoman for the Madison County State's Attorney's office. His next court date has not yet been scheduled.

Joe Rutter of The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Pittsburgh Pirates P Jason Boyd has been charged with misdemeanor battery for fighting during a recreation league basketball game in Edwardsville, Ill. If convicted, Boyd could face a year in jail or a $1,000 fine.
