Giants | Barry Zito pushed back

Fri, 30 Aug 2013 20:12:48 -0700

The San Francisco Giants have elected to push SP Barry Zito back one day from Sunday, Sept. 1, to Monday, Sept. 2, against the San Diego Padres.

Fantasy Tip: Zito might be in line for two starts in the upcoming scoring period for his head-to-head fantasy owners. Still, he is best used only in NL play, as he has been far too inconsistent for mixed formats.

Giants | Barry Zito clears waivers

Wed, 14 Aug 2013 09:34:15 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Barry Zito has cleared trade waivers and is therefore eligible to be traded to any team, according to sources. CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler suggests that Zito's poor numbers on the road and large contract, which is in its final couple of months, are obstacles to a trade, however.

Fantasy Tip: It's highly unlikely that another club tries to deal for Zito. It would take virtually nothing to get him, even if the Giants picked up most of the left-hander's salary, and his 2012 postseason performance suggests that he can still be effective. Still, most teams probably won't bother exploring the possibility. Zito is in the bullpen and may remain there through the end of the season.
