Chicago White Sox vice president Buddy Bell said Friday, April 6, that SP Kip Wells will be stretched out at extended spring training to be used as a starter. "(Pitching coach Don Cooper) worked him out in Houston and he said he was throwing better than most of the guys we had," Bell said. "So we'll see."

The Chicago White Sox signed free-agent SP Kip Wells (Diamondbacks) to a minor league contract. He hasn't pitched in the majors since 2009, but he was reaching 93-94 mph in tryouts recently.
