Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton hit his NL-tying ninth homer of May, and 10th of the season, with a blast off San Francisco Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong in the second inning of a 14-7 loss Thursday, May 24. Stanton, who didn't hit his first home run until his 20th game of the season, has not gone more than four games in May without hitting one. The 22-year-old has also 23 of his 32 RBIs during the month.

He still hasn't lost to the Rockies for his career, going 4-0 with a 1.07 ERA in five starts, including 3-0 with a 0.64 ERA in four at home.

However, the injection was considered "maintenance" on an injury that he initially suffered in spring training. Vogelsong is expected to make his next start against the Colorado Rockies Monday, May 14.

San Francisco Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong (back) threw 55 pitches in a minor-league intrasquad game Sunday, April 1. After the outing, he flew to Pennsylvania for a family funeral. He will return to Arizona to start a game for Triple-A Fresno in Tucson Thursday, April 5.

The San Francisco Giants placed 2B Freddy Sanchez (shoulder), SP Ryan Vogelsong (back), P Eric Surkamp (undisclosed) and RP Dan Runzler (lat) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, March 30. Vogelsong's stint is retroactive to March 27, while the others are retroactive to March 26.

San Francisco Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong (back) will make his season debut with Triple-A Fresno April 5, and then he will make one more rehab start. Vogelsong came out of his Cactus League start Monday, March 26, without any setbacks. The team must backdate his 15-day disabled list assignment, so he cannot work against the Cincinnati Reds Saturday, March 31. He will then be lined up to open his season April 15 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
