The Washington Post's Marc Carig reports a difficult relief appearance may cost Baltimore Orioles RP Steve Trachsel a spot on the team. Orioles manager Dave Trembley said that a decision on Trachsel's fate could be approaching. Trembley said he plans to discuss the matter with pitching coach Rick Kranitz.

The Washington Post's Marc Carig, updating a previous item, reports Baltimore Orioles SP Steve Trachsel allowed just two runs in five innings of a relief stint June 1 against the Boston Red Sox. It was Trachsel's first relief appearance since September 1995. The pitcher's future with the team remains in doubt, but Trachsel said he would be willing to give relief work a chance.

Trachsel, who was pitching on 14 days' rest, thought he might have been tipping off his pitches, but manager Dave Trembley doesn't believe that was the case.
