Kansas City Royals SP John Thomson (back) has been moved from the 15-day disabled list, to the 60-day disabled list, according to USAToday.com.

Dick Kaegel, of MLB.com, reports Kansas City Royals SP John Thomson (back) allowed eight runs in 3 1/3 innings pitched in a rehab start for Triple-A Omaha Tuesday, Aug. 21.

The Sports Network reports the Kansas City Royals will have a number of pitchers coming off the disabled list soon, and will need to decide who to keep in the rotation. The pitchers likely to keep their spots are SPs Kyle Davies, Gil Meche and Brian Bannister. Also likely to retain his spot is SP Leo Nunez, who has a 1.96 ERA since his July promotion. That leaves Odalis Perez, Jorge De La Rosa (elbow), John Thomson (back) and Brandon Duckworth (oblique) competing for the last spot - the last three of whom are scheduled to return from the disabled list soon.
