The Chicago Tribune reports Chicago Cubs pitcher Mike Sirotka (shoulder) experienced soreness during a simulated game in extended spring training. Sirotka was brought in Monday to get checked out by team physician Michael Schafer. He was diagnosed with "shoulder inflammation" and will be shut down for at least 10 days. Sirotka has undergone two operations since he last pitched during the 2000 season.

MLB.com’s Carrie Muskat reports P Mike Sirotka (shoulder) is in camp with the Chicago Cubs as a non-roster invitee. Sirotka hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2000 after having problems with his left shoulder. The team is being somewhat cautious with him, having him warm up and pitch only once per day.
