Texas Rangers SP Cliff Lee struck out 13 batters in a nine-inning no-decision Tuesday, July 27, according to The Associated Press, but he picked up a no-decision as Texas needed 10 innings for a 3-1 win over the Oakland Athletics. It was the most strikeouts by a Texas pitcher since SP Aaron Sele in August 1999.

The New York Times' Pat Borzi reports New York Mets SP Aaron Sele, who is competing for the fifth rotation spot, was hit hard by the Baltimore Orioles in the first inning but rebounded after that in a split-squad spring game Saturday, March 17. Sele yielded six runs in the first inning but then went on to retire 15 of the next 16 batters.

The Associated Press' Ronald Blum reports the New York Mets and free agent SP Aaron Sele (Dodgers) agreed to a minor league deal Thursday, Jan. 25, that included an invitation to major league camp. Sele, if added to the 40-man roster, would receive a $1 million, one-year contract. Further, he'd have the opportunity to take home an additional $1 million via performance bonuses.
