Reitsma signed a minor league contract, so if he does not report to Tacoma, the Mariners could place him on the restricted list; this would enable the Mariners to retain his rights but not have to pay him.

Reitsma was placed on the 15-day disabled list July 30 for the third time this season. "It's pretty hard to get my mind around that right now, but time will tell," Reitsma said of impending rumors he may be forced into retirement. "It might just be the card I drew, and I go on with life. I don't know." |
