Panthers.com reports Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox said TE Freddie Jones is still working to refine his blocking skills. When asked how Jones was doing Fox replied, "He's doing well. It's hard to evaluate without pads, so I think we will have a little more critical evaluation when we get to camp, but tight ends coach Dave Magazu does an outstanding job of teaching the fundamentals of blocking. They drill that a lot. There are a lot of techniques involved. In some cases, blocking might not have been an emphasis for guys in their careers. It is an emphasis here. He's got the physical tools to do it, the size, the arm length and the athleticism. Now it's just a matter of learning the techniques."

Darin Gantt, of the Rock Hill Herald, reports Carolina Panthers TE Freddie Jones said his priorities have changed. He joined the Panthers because he wants to be part of a winning team and is willing to sacrifice catching passes while blocking more if that means he has a shot at the Super Bowl or playoffs. While he could be a solid receiving option in the red zone, Jones is going to have to adjust his game to the Panthers' style rather than the team adjusting to his. Jones said he has gained upper body strength over the last year and now he needs to prove to the coaching staff that he can block, too. If he can't, there is no guarantee he'll stick with the team.
