Fri, 17 May 2013 14:56:09 -0700 The New York Yankees placed SP Andy Pettitte (back) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 17, and will recall SP Vidal Nuno from the minors in a corresponding move. Fantasy Tip: Nuno was excellent in his first start earlier this week during a doubleheader. Consider him in AL-only universes if you need some pitching help. It was thought that Pettitte's back injury was minor, so they may just want to make sure he doesn't aggravate it.
Fri, 17 May 2013 10:51:08 -0700 New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (back) said his trapezius muscle wasn't tight and he wasn't hurting after the game Thursday, May 16, but he's unsure if he'll have to miss his next start Tuesday, May 21, against the Baltimore Orioles. A team doctor thinks Pettitte was just dealing with a spasm. Pettitte allowed four hits and struck out five Thursday. Pettitte is 4-3 with a 3.83 ERA in eight starts this season. The team could use SP Adam Warren in the rotation if Pettitte has to miss time. Warren is 1-0 with a 1.37 ERA over 19 2/3 innings this year, and he's currently working out of the bullpen. Fantasy Tip: Pettitte dealt with back spasms last month, too, although it isn't surprising for a pitcher who has has multiple injury issues over the past several seasons and who is turning 41 next month. Warren should only intrigue those in AL-only leagues if he receives a few starts.
Thu, 16 May 2013 21:46:24 -0700 The New York Yankees didn't seem worried about SP Andy Pettitte (back) despite him leaving his start with a tight left trapezius muscle. Fantasy Tip: Still, the elderly lefty may require a DL stint, or at least may miss one or two starts, so plan accordingly, Pettitte owners. The Yanks may need to call upon Brett Marshall, Adam Warren or Dellin Betances for a spell, but only AL players should be interested in these risky options.
Thu, 16 May 2013 19:03:22 -0700 Updating a previous report, New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (trapezius) left his start Thursday, May 16, because of a tight left trapezius muscle.
Thu, 16 May 2013 17:37:00 -0700 New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (undisclosed) left his start Thursday, May 16, after suffering an apparent injury.
Tue, 30 Apr 2013 11:23:38 -0700 New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte gave up 10 hits and seven runs, both season highs, in his loss to the Houston Astros Monday, April 29, in his first start with C Austin Romine behind the dish. "He hasn't been back there, and I felt like maybe I didn't get into the rhythm I wanted to," Pettitte said of Romine. It was the most hits Pettitte had allowed since Sept. 24, 2010, against the Boston Red Sox.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 20:08:47 -0700 New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (back) missed his last start due to a back injury, but he bounced back by allowing three earned runs and six hits over 7 1/3 innings in his return in a win Friday, April 19, against the Toronto Blue Jays. Fantasy Tip: Pettitte improved to 3-0, and he has managed a solid 2.01 ERA. He isn't quite a must-start fantasy formats in mixed formats, but he is a tremendous back-end rotation in such leagues. He is an obvious must-start in AL-only play, though.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 19:27:43 -0700 New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (back) threw another bullpen session Wednesday, April 17, and he said he expects to have no problem making his scheduled start Friday, April 19, against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 12:46:02 -0700 New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (back) threw a successful bullpen session Tuesday, April 16, and he's on track to make his next start Friday, April 19.
Mon, 15 Apr 2013 11:56:11 -0700 New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte (back) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, April 16, and is scheduled to make his next start Friday, April 19, if he doesn't have any setbacks. Fantasy Tip: Given Pettitte's age, it's become a slight concern that he's had his start pushed back twice this week. However, the injury doesn't appear serious, but it could linger. The Yankees are being cautious with him, and you should be, too, if you own him.
