Updating previous items, the AP reports the Tampa Bay Devil Rays activated SP Steve Parris (shoulder) from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, June 3. He had been out of action since May 9 due to a sore right shoulder.

Paul C. Smith, writing for DevilRays.MLB.com, reports Tampa Bay Devil Rays P Steve Parris (shoulder) will likely be headed to the disabled list to regain strength. "He's given us maximum effort, but he's lost strength in his shoulder," manager Lou Piniella said. "It's shown in his sharpness and his velocity. He needs to regain some strength."

The Tampa Tribune's Carter Gaddis reports Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitcher Steve Parris has won the fifth spot in the rotation, after pitching five shutout innings on Friday. ``He pitched himself into the fifth spot,'' Manager Lou Piniella said. ``It was a nice effort. He's pitched well all spring, and he's earned it. So our rotation is set.'' Parris, 35, rounds out a rotation that already included Joe Kennedy, Victor Zambrano, Jim Parque and Nick Bierbrodt.
