The Arlington Heights Daily Herald's Scot Gregor, updating a previous item, is reporting former major league SP Jim Parque has denied the allegations leveled against him in the Mitchell Report on steroid use in baseball. "There were no positive tests whatsoever,'' Parque said. "I don't understand where all of this is coming from. I guess you have to look at who is doing all of the talking. But I'm out of the game now. What am I going to do? They are basing all of the evidence on a guy that has a plea bargain.''

The Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports former major league SP Jim Parque, who pitched five seasons with the Chicago White Sox from 1998 to 2002, was linked to performance-enhancing drugs after the 2003 season he spent with the Tampa Bay Rays. According to the report, Parque bought $3,200 worth of human growth hormone from Kirk Radomski, a former New York Mets clubhouse attendant who has been charged with steroid distribution and who provided information to Mitchell's investigators.

Mariners | Parque signs minor-league deal

Jerry Crasnick, of ESPN.com, reports the Seattle Mariners have signed SP Jim Parque (shoulder) to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training. Parque is attempting a comeback after being out of baseball for three seasons with shoulder trouble. It is expected he will begin the season with Triple-A Tacoma as a starter.

The Chicago Tribune's Phil Rogers reports former Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks P Jim Parque, out of the majors since 2003 because of shoulder problems, has joined the list of pitchers attempting to make a comeback. His agent says he's throwing 90 m.p.h again, which could get him some consideration.

The Chicago Tribune reports Chicago White Sox RP Brandon McCarthy's eight strikeouts on Sept. 11 were the most by a Sox reliever since Ken Patterson struck out eight Aug. 13, 1991 at Detroit. McCarthy's six innings were the longest by a Sox reliever since Jim Parque matched that on May 2, 2002, at Seattle.
