Free-agent SP Roy Oswalt (Rockies) announced his retirement from professional baseball Tuesday, Feb. 11. Oswalt played for the Houston Astros from 2001 to 2010.

Free-agent SP Roy Oswalt (Rockies) intends to pitch again in 2014, but he plans on signing this offseason and taking part in spring training, unlike years past. Oswalt still prefers to start but is open to pitching in relief. He continues to look for a major league deal.

The Colorado Rockies activated SPs Roy Oswalt (hamstring) and Drew Pomeranz (triceps) from the disabled list Friday, Sept. 6. Oswalt is expected to pitch Sunday, Sept. 8, but it's unsure if he'll start the game.

Fantasy Tip: Oswalt will probably be on some sort of a pitch count if he starts against the San Diego Padres this weekend, making him only a desperation addition in NL-only universes.

Colorado Rockies SP Roy Oswalt (hamstring) is expected to be activated to pitch Sunday, Sept. 8, against the San Diego Padres. It's uncertain if he will work out of the bullpen or start in place of SP Chad Bettis, as manager Walt Weiss is still trying to decide.

Colorado Rockies SP Roy Oswalt (hamstring) made another minor league rehab start with Rookie level Grand Junction Tuesday, Sept. 3. Manager Walt Weiss said his plan for Oswalt for the remainder of the season depends upon how well Oswalt performs at Grand Junction. "We're looking to get him back in the mix," Weiss said. "I don't know exactly when that is, but a lot of it will be determined by how it goes tonight and we'll go from there."
