Diamondbacks | Eric Young not returning as coach

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Wednesday, Oct. 17, that they would not bring back first-base coach Eric Young and would also be adding a coach to work under hitting coach Don Baylor in a newly created position. Baylor, third-base coach Matt Williams, pitching coach Charles Nagy, bench coach Alan Trammell and bullpen coach Glenn Sherlock will return for 2013. All of the coaches, including Young, were under contract for 2013.

Diamondbacks | Coaching staff to remain in place through 2013

The Arizona Diamondbacks have extended the contracts of most of the members of manager Kirk Gibson's coaching staff for an additional year. First base coach Eric Young, third base coach Matt Williams, bench coach Alan Trammell, bullpen coach Glenn Sherlock and pitching coach Charles Nagy had their contracts extended through the 2013 season. Hitting coach Don Baylor has not yet received an extension because he is managing a winter ball team in Venezuela and the Diamondbacks have been unable to contact him. However, general manager Kevin Towers said the team will extend Baylor's contract as soon as possible.

Diamondbacks | Three coaches hired

The Arizona Diamondbacks hired Don Baylor as their hitting coach, Charles Nagy as their pitching coach and Alan Trammell as their bench coach Tuesday, Oct. 26, according to MLB Network Radio's Brent Gambill.

Anthony Castrovince, of Indians.MLB.com, reports the Cleveland Indians will add four former players to their Hall of Fame. RP Charles Nagy, Andre Thornton, Jim Bagby Sr. and Mike Garcia will be inducted into the Indians' Hall of Fame prior to the game Aug. 11 against the New York Yankees.

Angels | Triple-A coaching staff announced

Angels.MLB.com reports the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced the coaching staff for their Triple-A Salt Lake affiliate. Brian Harper will manage the club and he will be joined by pitching coach Charles Nagy, hitting coach Jim Eppard and trainer Armando Rivas.

Indians | Nagy Hired in Front Office

The AP's Tom Withers reports former Major League P Charles Nagy was hired by the Cleveland Indians to serve as a special assistant to general manager Mark Shapiro. Nagy was most recently with the San Diego Padres but declined a minor league assignment and became a free agent.
