The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Pittsburgh Pirates SP Matt Morris will not be taken out of the rotation despite a 9.15 ERA and bad stats in his latest outing April 21 against the Florida Marlins. He gave up eight runs on nine hits in a 10-4 loss. "We haven't even really gotten into (considering) that," manager John Russell said. "I did see him try to be more aggressive. We've just got to get his command of his fastball better to where he can hit his spots and work ahead of batters instead of behind."

Unlike his last bullpen session, when Morris concentrated solely on his fastball, Morris mixed in his offspeed pitches Monday with very good results. "It made me feel really good with what he did today," Andrews said. "I know it's not a max effort, but ... to come out the first day and throw a breaking ball and throw it for strike after strike after strike, that was really nice to see."
