Seattle Mariners SP Kevin Millwood will head to spring training battling for a rotation spot. SPs Blake Beavan, Charlie Furbush and Hector Noesi are expected to fight with Millwood for the final two spots in the rotation.

The Seattle Mariners finalized their minor league deal with SP Kevin Millwood Tuesday, Jan. 24. Millwood has a solid shot to crack the starting rotation this spring over young SPs Danny Hultzen and James Paxton. Millwood will make $1 million plus an extra $750,000 in incentives if he makes the major league roster.

The Seattle Mariners agreed to a minor-league deal with free-agent SP Kevin Millwood (Rockies) Sunday, Jan. 22. The veteran will also receive an invite to spring training.

The Colorado Rockies are growing less interested in re-signing SP Kevin Millwood. The acquisition of P Kevin Slowey from the Minnesota Twins has left less room in the rotation, and it is thought Millwood wants $3 million for 2012 while the team is offering $1 million plus incentives.

The Colorado Rockies are no longer in the running for the services of free-agent SP Roy Oswalt (Phillies). Colorado would still like to re-sign SP Kevin Millwood or take a chance on free-agent SP Jeff Francis (Royals).

The Colorado Rockies are looking for pitching this winter and could look to sign free-agent SPs Kevin Millwood (Rockies), Rich Harden (Athletics) or Bruce Chen (Royals). They will also look to the trade market, with Houston Astros SP Wandy Rodriguez, Tampa Bay Rays SP Wade Davis, Florida Marlins SP Ricky Nolasco and Chicago White Sox SP John Danks available.

Colorado Rockies SP Kevin Millwood (2-1) allowed seven hits over seven scoreless innings in a victory over the San Diego Padres Friday, Sept. 2, with no walks and eight strikeouts. "I located my fastball real well and my slider was pretty good," he said. "My changeup and curveball weren't great but I got some big outs with them."
