Cleveland Indians SP Derek Lowe tossed his first shutout in almost seven years by throwing a six-hitter against the Minnesota Twins Tuesday, May 15. He was the first pitcher to throw a shutout without a strikeout since Scott Erickson in April of 2002. Lowe induced four double-play grounders and won his fourth straight decision. He tossed a season-high 127 pitches for his 10th career complete game and first since August of 2008. It was his fourth career shutout. Lowe said he only threw around "seven or eight" curveballs, with the rest being sinking fastballs. He has allowed three runs or less with six innings or more in seven of his eight starts this year. Lowe walked four in the outing.

Cleveland Indians SP Derek Lowe was presented with a replacement World Series ring by the Boston Red Sox Saturday, May 12. Lowe was a member of the Red Sox in 2004, and his ring was stolen earlier this year.

Cleveland Indians SP Derek Lowe (back) was able to make his final spring start Tuesday, April 3, in an exhibition game in Zebulon, N.C. against the team's new Class A affiliate, the Carolina Mudcats. Lowe allowed just one hit and no walks over three scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta said Friday, March 30, that SP Derek Lowe (back) is still slated to start the exhibition game Tuesday, April 3, against Class A Carolina in Zebulon, N.C. Lowe and general manager Chris Antonetti also indicated Friday that they do not believe the pitcher will need to go on the 15-day disabled list. "The initial read is that it's not too concerning," Antonetti said.
