The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Pirates SP Albie Lopez was released after he left camp. The team wanted him to get some innings at Triple-A to start the season and Lopez left camp.

The Dayton Daily News reports free-agent pitcher Albie Lopez (elbow) came up with soreness in his elbow Wednesday after throwing for the Cincinnati Reds in a Tuesday tryout. His scheduled Thursday workout was canceled.

Free-agent pitcher Albie Lopez hasn't been given a contract yet by the Cincinnati Reds, but The Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay reports Lopez threw a bullpen session for manager Bob Boone and pitching coach Don Gullett. "His stuff looked pretty good," Boone said. "He's polished. He's got all the pitches."

The Kansas City Star reports Kansas City Royals pitcher Albie Lopez (groin) will make a rehab tour in the minors once his strained right groin is deemed strong enough to return from the disabled list. Lopez hasn't pitched since May 16 but threw a sideline session before Thursday's game and appears close to returning.
