Joe Cowley, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago White Sox SP Esteban Loaiza (shoulder) has not impressed the team's coaches after weeklong throwing sessions. Manager Ozzie Guillen said he does not see Loaiza returning to the team after hearing that Loaiza has not been impressive from pitching coach Don Cooper.

Updating previous items, Chicago White Sox SP Esteban Loaiza (shoulder) has returned to the team from his injury rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte and will find out next week whether or not he will remain with the team, reports MLB.com's Scott Merkin. The team is going to examine his shoulder, which has remained sore. "We are going to keep a close look on him and make a decision next week," said manager Ozzie Guillen. The team will keep him in Chicago, send him back to the minors, or release him, according to Guillen.

The Associated Press reports the Chicago White Sox have signed free-agent SP Esteban Loaiza (Dodgers) to a one-year contract. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. He will be used as a long reliever and spot starter.

Updating a previous report, Ken Gurnick, of MLB.com, reports Los Angeles Dodgers P Esteban Loaiza's designation for assignment means that the club assumes the remainder of his 2007 salary ($1.2 million), his 2008 salary ($6.5 million) and a buyout ($375,000) of his 2008 salary of $7.5 million. The Dodgers have 10 days to decide what to do with him, but they are expected to grant him his release and absorb the financial obligation.
