San Francisco Giants RP Matt Kinney is spot-starting at Triple-A Fresno in place of SP Kevin Pucetas (ankle), who was placed on the minor league disabled list because of an ankle injury, according to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News.

The San Jose Mercury News is reporting San Francisco Giants IF Kevin Frandsen has signed up to play for Gigantes de Carolina in the Puerto Rican winter league. Triple-A Fresno manager Dan Rohn will skipper the club, which also will include P Steve Palazzolo, P Matt Kinney and P Geno Espineli.

The Associated Press reports Seattle Mariners 3B Justin Leone (finger) will likely miss the rest of the season after he broke two fingers on his left hand when he was hit by a pitch Tuesday, Aug. 17. Leone was batting against Kansas City Royals P Matt Kinney in the fifth inning when a pitch hit his hand. X-rays revealed two broken fingers, and Leone will be sidelined four to six weeks.
