The Contra Costa Times reports the Oakland Raiders might explore the possibility of adding a veteran WR to serve as a backup to their starters. Both free agent WRs Antonio Freeman (Eagles) and Chris Sanders (Titans) could fit that role.

The Miami Herald reports the Miami Dolphins worked out six free agent WRs in practice on Friday Ė Chris Sanders, Sean Dawkins, Chris Coleman, Reidel Anthony, Chris Jackson and Na Brown. Cris Carter also remains a possibility, but neither side would comment on the situation.

Browns | Sanders Trying to Help Younger WRs

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Cleveland Browns WR Chris Sanders has been taking some of the team's younger WRs -- including Dennis Northcutt, Quincy Morgan and rookie Andre Davis -- under his wing trying to teach them better work ethic. Sanders, who learned under Webster Slaughter his rookie year, said the team wants him to take on a leadership role and he's been trying to do that. During earlier workout sessions, he had the team's younger WRs working longer after practice catching more passes. Sanders believes the Browns have a lot of talent at WR and that they'll surprise some this year.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports newly added WR Chris Sanders, now of the Cleveland Browns, said he's 100 percent recovered from an injured disc in his back that kept him out of action often during the 2001 season. The Canton Repository reports Sanders could push for the No. 2 role at receiver opposite of starter Kevin Johnson.

According to the Tenneseean, the Cleveland Browns and Atlants Falcons have shown recent interest in free agent WR Chris Sanders (Titans), according to agent Vann McElroy. His chances of landing in Jacksonville may have disappeared when the Jags signed free agent WR Patrick Johnson. The Titans are said to be still interested in re-signing Sanders, at the right price.

The Packers officials were disappointed in Sanders' 40-yard dash time during a workout a week ago. The team, according to the Journal-Sentinel, may offer him a minimum-salary later.

The Journal Sentinel reports free agent WR Chris Sanders (Titans) had a good visit with the Green Bay Packers. "He ran routes and looked good doing it," agent Vann McElroy said. "Both parties liked each other so there's possibilities." As noted earlier, he is now expected to head to Detroit for a Friday visit. The story adds he has a Monday visit with the Jaguars.

The Tennessean reports the Tennessee Titans told WR Chris Sanders' agent, Vann McElroy, that Sanders can return to the team next year -- but it would be at the salary of $650,000, the veteran minimum. It's that or Sanders would be released. He's currently due $1.9 million in 2002. McElroy said Sanders is considering it.

The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans WR Chris Sanders (back) said he's about 90 percent recovered from a back injury that required surgery and sidelined him for the final 12 games of the 2001 season. He's currently on the team's expansion list. If the Houston Texans don't select him, Sanders knows there's no guarantee he'll remain with the Titans. He's scheduled to earn $3.15 million in 2002.

He still needs to improve on the practice field. Fisher said OL Bruce Matthews (groin) is feeling better. They'll see how he's feeling before kickoff. CB Donald Mitchell (knee) may need to undergo surgery to clean up his knee.

The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans RB Skip Hicks (hamstring), CB Samari Rolle (foot) and CB Donald Mitchell (knee) did not practice yesterday. Rolle is expected to play Sunday, while Mitchell may miss his third straight game. Hicks was expected to miss the team's last two games, but now coach Jeff Fisher said there's still a ''possibility'' Hicks could be available for season finale. Any chance of a return by WR Chris Sanders (back) for this season looks doubtful.

The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans CB Donald Mitchell (knee), TE Shad Meier (hand) and S Blaine Bishop (foot) didn't practice on Tuesday. In fact, they didn't participate in any portion of the practice. CB Samari Rolle (foot), S Aric Morris (ankle) and LB Randall Godfrey (knee) were limited to individual drills during Tuesday's practice, as they didn't take part in team drills. WR Chris Sanders (back) returned to the practice field yesterday for the first time in almost two months. He worked on the scout team and took part in individual drills. He's not expected to play this weekend but said he'd like to play again this year even though he's only at 80 to 85 percent health.

The Titans Radio Network reports Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said that TE Frank Wycheck (ankle) is less sore and the team will bring him along slowly. CB Donald Mitchell was playing through an ankle sprain Sunday and was evaluated by doctors Monday. Fisher said S Blaine Bishop (foot/hand), TE Erron Kinney (calf), WR Justin McCareins (ankle) and WR Chris Sanders (back) are improving. Bishop will be rested until Wednesday. Fisher said that Kinney felt good Monday, but he doesnít know how well Kinney will be able to explode off the calf, so the team will be watching him. McCareins wasnít feeling sore Monday and could be ready to play this weekend or next weekend. Sanders has been cleared to start his activity.
