MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports the Colorado Rockies will honor the memory of the late P Joe Kennedy prior to their home opener Friday afternoon, April 4, by having Kennedy's 1 1/2 year-old-son Kaige throw a ceremonial first pitch. Kennedy, who died unexpectedly from a heart condition Nov. 23, had pitched for the Rockies in 2004 and 2005.

The Associated Press reports the Nov. 23, 2007, death of MLB P Joe Kennedy was the result of the pitcher having hypertensive heart disease, a condition that hardens the heart's walls and can cause it to stop beating, according to Hillsborough County medical examiner Dr. Vernard Adams.

Updating previous items, The St. Petersburg Times' Marc Topkin is reporting former Tampa Bay Rays SP Joe Kennedy, who last pitched for the Toronto Blue Jays, may have suffered either a heart attack or brain aneurysm that brought on his death at age 28. "The way he died was sudden," Kennedy's agent, Damon Lapa told Foxsports.com. "There is no reasonable explanation for what happened."

Ken Rosenthal, of FOXSports.com, is reporting that former MLB P Joe Kennedy had an enlarged heart that may have contributed to his death, according to his agent, Damon Lapa. Doctors gave the tentative diagnosis, Saturday, Nov. 24, one day after Kennedy collapsed and died at the house of his wife's parents. The bloodwork for the toxicology report has not been completed.

Jerry Crasnick, of ESPN.com, reports Major League pitcher Joe Kennedy passed away early Friday morning, Nov. 23, while at home with his family in Florida, according to his agent Damon Lapa. The cause of Kennedy's death could not be immediately determined. KFFL extends its condolences to Kennedy's family and friends.
