Japanball.com reports free agent SP Kazuhisa Ishii (New York Mets) is interested in returning to Japan to play baseball and has been offered a two-year deal by the Yakult Swallows. Ishii has been in talks with several teams but might be leaning towards Yakult, as he said, "... I'll keep in mind the fact that I played for them for 10 years in the past and that they gave me a chance to move to the major leagues." Ishii said he would likely make his decision around Jan. 20.

New York Mets P Kazuhisa Ishii's next turn in the rotation will be skipped, so he will be pitching in relief for the immediate future, according to Bryan Hoch, for Mets.MLB.com. "Right now, he's not in the immediate rotation," said MAN Willie Randolph. "It doesn't mean he's out of the rotation. We'll wait and see."
