Giants | Tim Hudson joins rare group

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 16:48:19 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings in a win over the Oakland Athletics Sunday, July 26, becoming the 15th pitcher to record a win against all 30 major league teams.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) joined a short list of pitchers, but he owns a 4.80 ERA for the year, and doesn't offer much upside at FantasyScore because of his low strikeout totals.

Giants | Tim Hudson to start Monday

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 20:19:31 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list and start against the San Diego Padres Monday, July 20, according to manager Bruce Bochy.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has been inconsistent all year, but he does draw a solid matchup against a struggling San Diego offense in his return. For the price, Hudson could be worth gambling on at FantasyScore.

Giants | Jake Peavy activated from DL

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 10:58:33 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, July 3. SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) faces a talented Washington Nationals lineup and doesn't have a lot of upside on FantasyScore. Hudson isn't worth stashing except maybe in NL-only leagues if you have the space.

Giants | Tim Hudson could land on DL

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 16:12:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) will go on the disabled list or seven-day personal leave list to clear space for SP Jake Peavy (back) Friday, July 3. Hudson is dealing with a serious family matter and is also dealing with some physical issues, including a sore right shoulder. "Just (scapula) stuff and crankiness," said Hudson, who also has had ankle and hip issues. "It's one of those things that happens throughout the season with most people. When you get older it gets harder to deal with sometimes."

Fantasy Tip: Either way you slice it, Hudson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is being bumped out of the rotation with Peavy returning. It's unclear how long he'll be away from the team, but it could be an extended timetable, and he could return in a relief role. Hudson has no business being owned in the majority of fantasy leagues now.

Giants | Tim Hudson taking leave

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 14:43:43 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson will leave the team to attend a family situation, and he could land on the bereavement list.

Fantasy Tip: With Jake Peavy (back) coming off the disabled list to start Friday, Hudson is expected to lose his rotation spot and possibly move to the bullpen. A move to the bereavement list makes sense as a way for the Giants to avoid the situation in the short term. It's looking like Hudson won't have any value in deep mixed and NL-only leagues, though.

Giants | Matt Cain needs one more start

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 16:51:07 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain (elbow) will make one more rehab start at Class AAA, before rejoining the Giants' rotation. Cain's tentative return is scheduled for July 2, which is the spot currently slotted for SP Tim Hudson.

Fantasy Tip: Cain ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) will be a risky option for FantasyScore and season-long owners alike. While NL-only owners can add Cain now, mixed league owners will need to see a couple of strong starts before streaming Cain based on matchups.

Giants | Tim Hudson OK after being hit

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 17:22:43 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (quadriceps) said he was fine after being hit in the right quadriceps by a line drive off the bat of Pittsburgh Pirates SS Jordy Mercer Wednesday, June 3, during the third inning.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) remained in the game for seven innings, allowing two runs and seven hits in a hard-luck loss to Pittsburgh. He should be able to make his next scheduled start.

Giants | Tim Hudson can't master Coors

Mon, 25 May 2015 01:24:01 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson is winless in 10 career stats at Coors Field with a 7.69 ERA.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) may not make it back to Coors Field as there are rumors of his retirement following the season. Overall he is 2-3 with a 4.01 ERA, so subtract Coors and he isn't too bad. Still, analyze the matchup with Hudson before starting him.

Giants | Tim Hudson leaning towards swan song

Fri, 01 May 2015 10:48:42 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson is leaning towards retiring after this season.

Fantasy Tip: Huddy ($4,500, 9.0% of your cap) isn't the underrated star he used to be, but he's still a decent matchup play on FantasyScore.

Giants | Tim Hudson still building arm strength

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 17:08:14 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (ankle) threw a spring-high 78 pitches Wednesday, March 25, completing six innings, giving up three runs on six hits. Hudson is still trying to build up arm strength as he recovers from right ankle surgery. He's likely lined up to be the fourth starter for the Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) isn't a source of many strikeouts, but he's a good late-round pick for his positive contributions in ERA and WHIP.
