Washington Nationals RP Orlando Hernandez left Double-A Harrisburg after general manager Mike Rizzo informed Hernandez that he would not be called up to the majors when rosters expand in September, according to The Washington Post's Adam Kilgore. Hernandez plans to resume his career next season.

Washington Nationals SP Livan Hernandez said the team had signed his half-brother, 44-year-old P Orlando Hernandez, to a minor league contract, according to The Associated Press. However, a spokesman for the Nationals declined to comment. "He's in better shape than anybody in baseball," Livan Hernandez said. "It's unbelievable."

He has a 2.45 ERA in eight relief outings at Triple-A Oklahoma but hasn't shown enough velocity for the team to bring him up.

According to a report in The Bergen Record, New York Mets SP Livan Hernandez said his brother, SP Orlando Hernandez, is not finished yet with his career. "He says he's going to pitch again, but he's got to be 100 percent," Livan Hernandez said. "I see my brother working in Miami really hard, always working hard. He'll come back. He doesn't want to be a starter no more. He wants to be a reliever."
