Updating an ongoing story, Hal McCoy of The Dayton Daily News reports the Cincinnati Reds released P Jimmy Haynes in order to give him a chance to catch on somewhere else. "We felt it was in the best interest of the organization and, quite frankly, in the best interest of Jimmy Haynes as well," Reds general manager Dan O'Brien said. "This gives him a chance, if he so chooses, to try to hook on with another team and pitch in a rotation. It's best for him."

Cincinnati Reds P Jimmy Haynes (muscle strain) threw to batters for the first time this spring in a 10-minute session, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer. "He felt good," Reds manager Dave Miley said. "The sharpness wasn't there. He needs to throw more to get that."
