The Kansas City Royals signed free-agent SP Doug Davis (Cubs) to a minor-league deal Saturday, May 12, and assigned him to extended spring training. Eventually, the plan is for Davis to land at Triple-A Omaha.

Chicago Cubs SP Rodrigo Lopez alllowed four earned runs, eight hits and two walks over 4 2/3 innings in a loss in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday, June 28, against the San Francisco Giants. Lopez is likely headed back to the bullpen, unless SP Doug Davis is removed from the rotation instead.

Chicago Cubs SP Doug Davis was tuned up for 10 earned runs, 12 hits and three walks in just 4 1/3 innings in a loss Tuesday, June 28, in the first game of a doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants. Davis fell to 1-7 with an abysmal 6.50 ERA.

Chicago Cubs SP Doug Davis shut down the New York Yankees Friday, June 17, to earn his first win of the season. Davis entered the game 0-5 with a 5.90 ERA in his six starts this year. He allowed one run and three hits while walking three and striking out four.
