Cornejo and the team are still exploring options but the shoulder's lack of improvement in rehab makes it likely that surgery will be the next course of action.

The Detroit News reports Detroit Tigers P Nate Cornejo (shoulder) will continue his rehabilitation mission Sunday, July 11 at Triple-A Toledo. Cornejo complained of shoulder stiffness after his Tuesday, July 6 start but has since been cleared to pitch.

The Detroit Free Press' Gene Guidi reports Detroit Tigers SP Nate Cornejo (shoulder), making his second rehabilitation appearance since going on the DL May 3, looked stiff-armed in his delivery according to Triple-A Toledo manager Larry Parrish. "I thought he was throwing like he was hurting," Parrish said. "He doesn't have the velocity he should have, and he doesn't have the sink."

Updating an earlier story, Jason Beck, of Tigers.MLB.com, reports Detroit Tigers SP Nate Cornejo (shoulder) will make at least two more starts for Triple-A Toledo beginning with the game Tuesday, July 6. Cornejo will throw 50 pitches and the start another game later.

Updating an earlier story, Jason Beck, of Tigers.MLB.com, reports Detroit Tigers SP Nate Cornejo (shoulder) retired the side in order in the seventh inning Wednesday, June 30, at Triple-A Toledo to start off his rehabilitation assignment. He struck out back-to-back hitters and threw 12 strikes out of 16 total pitches.
