New York Mets SPs Jon Niese (shoulder) and Bartolo Colon (calf) both faced hitters in an intrasquad game Thursday, March 6. Niese faced hitters for the first time since undergoing an MRI exam on his shoulder Feb. 26. He threw two innings and said the pain in his arm is gone. Colon threw three innings, and his fastball ranged from 86 to 89 mph.

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon has thrown the most fastballs of any starter with a minimum of 450 innings since 2011. He's thrown around 86 percent fastballs over the last three seasons with Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez in second place at just under 70 percent. Colon has been successful, though, because he varies the speeds of his fastballs from 86 mph to 94 mph and effectively changes the location of his pitches.
