Wed, 26 Aug 2015 20:26:19 -0700

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon (11-11) allowed five hits over seven scoreless innings in a victory over the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, Aug. 26, with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) had dropped seven of his previous eight decisions entering Wednesday's contest. He is expected to make his next start against the Phillies at Citi Field Monday, Aug. 31.

Mets | Bartolo Colon takes brief leave from Mets

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 15:03:15 -0700

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon (personal) is away from the team Tuesday, Aug. 18, as it marks the one-year anniversary of the death of his mother. Colon could rejoin the team as soon as Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) isn't expected to miss any starts. He has been incredibly inconsistent over his past 10 outings, and FantasyScore players should only consider him in favorable matchups. His next start projects to be during the series against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, so he should be avoided in all formats.

Mets | Bartolo Colon fading

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 15:18:03 -0700

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon is 1-7 with a 5.30 ERA in his last nine starts, and opponents are hitting .321 against him during that stretch. However, he is 4-2 with a 1.97 ERA in seven career starts against the Pittsburgh Pirates, who he will face Friday, Aug. 14.

Fantasy Tip: The 42-year-old is fading quickly down the stretch after a surprising start to the season. At this point, he should be on the waiver wire in most leagues, and he's one to avoid on FantasyScore, especially against the second-place Pirates.

Mets | Bartolo Colon turns it around

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 20:23:04 -0700

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon allowed just one earned runs, seven hits and no walks with five strikeouts over eight innings in a win Monday, Aug. 3, against the Miami Marlins. Colon entered the game 0-6 with a 6.16 ERA over his past seven starts.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has struggled lately, but this is a good sign of things to come. FantasyScore players can trust him again, especially if the Mets stay hot and he continues to get amazing run support.

Mets | Bartolo Colon roughed up

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 05:36:12 -0700

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon surrendered four runs in just one-third of an inning Saturday, July 18, and he finished with seven runs allowed in 4 1/3 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) allowed eight runs and three walks while striking out five batters. Colon hasn't recorded a win in five consecutive starts, and he should be avoided on FantasyScore.

Mets | Bartolo Colon tagged with loss

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 05:01:58 -0700

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon gave up three runs and 10 hits in six innings of work Tuesday, July 7, as his team lost 3-0 to the San Francisco Giants. Colon dropped to 9-7 overall.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has not won since June 12 and appears to be falling down to earth after a hot start. Hard to believe now he may be a weak link among a pitching staff that includes Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz. Stay away until Colon corrects his issues.

Mets | Bartolo Colon wins ninth game

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 19:51:28 -0700

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon (9-4) allowed two runs on six hits over six innings Friday, June 12, in a victory over the Atlanta Braves. He allowed two walks and three strikeouts. With the win, Colon tied Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole and Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez for most victories in baseball.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) no longer possesses the ability to blow batters away and his ERA, which currently stands at 4.41 through 13 starts, is on the high side. That being said, his price tag should be appealing to FantasyScore owners looking for a mid-range pitching option who can pitch deep into games.

Mets | NY going to six-man rotation

Wed, 27 May 2015 12:15:04 -0700

The New York Mets will use a six-man pitching rotation throughout early to mid-August once SP Dillon Gee is added to the rotation. Gee will join SPs Jacob deGrom, Bartolo Colon, Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard and Jon Niese. The idea is to shave about 30 innings per pitcher and prevent so many arms from going over 200 innings in one season.

Fantasy Tip: This isn't a surprise. With such young arms as Gee ($3,900, 7.8% of cap), Harvey ($9,100, 18.2% of cap), deGrom ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) and Syndergaard ($6,000, 12.0% of cap), the Mets are interested in preserving the health of pitchers. No pitcher will likely get two starts in a week, which could hurt in yearly leagues, but you will still get one start a week in FantasyScore.

Mets | Bartolo Colon struggles in start

Wed, 20 May 2015 19:44:27 -0700

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon allowed nine runs on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings against the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) has struggled in his last three starts by allowing 17 earned runs in that span. Colon is scheduled to face the Philadelphia Phillies in his next start and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Mets | Bartolo Colon likes facing Cards

Wed, 20 May 2015 14:07:35 -0700

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon, who is going for his seventh win of the season against the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday, May 20, has a 1.17 ERA and has won all three of his starts against the Cardinals since 2013. He is 4-0 in six career outings against St. Louis. Colon hasn't walked a batter in 45 1/3 innings, the longest active stretch in baseball without a walk. He allowed six runs in five innings in his last start, the worst of the young season for him.

Fantasy Tip: Colon ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) doesn't have the velocity to blow people away anymore in his advanced age, and his 7.4 K/9 rate is likely to come down. If he isn't hitting spots, he'll be hit hard like he did in his last start. The Cardinals aren't the best matchup for you to use Colon in at FantasyScore.
